Irrigation

Bobbi Lemme

Since Mother Nature is starting to irrigate the gardens again, feel free to turn off your faucets if you think you’re getting enough water.
We will be removing all the timers and filters mid to late October to store for the winter. You will still be able to use hoses. We will turn off the water and open the underground drains after the event on October 29th.
Let us know if you find any chewed, leaking lines in your garden!

Spotted Spurge is shedding seed!

Deborah Smeltzer

It's that time of the year when spotted spurge is shedding seed everywhere (see photo of plant showing seeds). I weeded the Front Door bed on Friday and under every spotted spurge I uprooted, I found hundreds of tiny seeds ready to go again! (see photo). The seeds also adhered to the large arborist mulch chips. Spotted spurge is everywhere in our gravel paths and garden beds. Please try to remove it NOW so we can control the spread of seeds. Thank you!

Spotted spurge can go in the Yuck Bin or garbage.

Rose Garden

Virgene

Hi all!  The Rose Garden continues to need help cleaning up black spot leaves and dead petals.  This rain will have beat the blooms severely although free water is welcome! There might also be a weed or three. The grass next to the path needs edging and cleaned up. Some edging can be placed between the clover and the path next to the circular monument pavers too. Mole and vole repellent needs to be scattered.  Is that enough?   Thanks to all for the great help we've been having these past few months. It's really made a big difference, especially when I'm making garden "calls" looking at beetle grubs, paddle-tail darner dragonflies, sick junipers, greenhouse projects and rove beetles.  We really appreciate it! Oh! and come see the three replacement roses we planted last week.  The garden is really making a late show.

Welcome Garden

Julie Powell

I have a small budget to put in the Tulips for the spring,  The last 2 weeks of this month I will take out the flowers and replace then with tulips bulbs in pots for the Tulips Festival.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,   Julie
