Some of the highest quality garden plants for sale. These are locally-grown and chosen for success in our Skagit Valley environment. Free admission and parking. Free short garden classes all day. Food.
Plants include herbs, shrubs, trees, veggies, native plants, grasses, annuals, perennials, plants to attract pollinators (bees, hummingbirds, butterflies) and, of course: our annual Plant Fair is famous for the quality and variety of tomato plants … more than 40 varieties – including slicers, salad tomatoes, cherry, and plum types, many of which are heirloom. This year’s Plant Fair covers the entire fairgrounds with one whole building just for tomatoes. More room between plant tables for wheel chairs and carts.
For 45 years our Master Gardeners have been helping this community with its gardening needs – providing answers to plant production and plant problem questions.
In 2019, the last time Skagit Master Gardeners were at the fairgrounds, the Plant Fair broke all previous attendance records with 2,669 visitors. Customers started lining up before 7am. By 9am 1,029 customers had come through the gates. Then, 1,550 by 10 am, 2,000 by 11 am, 2,375 by noon, with 2,669 total attendance at close of the fair. All 3,000 tomato plants were sold by 11am – within 3 hours!
